Innovation Unit
As part of the aggressive growth program, EP is setting up a new innovation unit. Its key mandate is to develop innovative new products, services and business models. Thereby ideas should be developed into proven concepts - including prototypes and business plans. To be clear, the innovation unit is not another R&D facility, but much more business oriented. For technical tasks it will collaborate intensively with EP's existing R&D facilities. Additional responsibilities of the innovation unit are to identify and come up with own ideas and build an external innovation network.

Role for Business Developement Manager
The key role of the business development manager is to drive the commercial and business plan development for a given innovation. This involves coming up with a viable business model, assessing the economic attractiveness of the innovation as well as the underlying market, building a financial model as well as talking to and interviewing potential customers and commercial employees of EP. Overall, a strong business sense and commercial judgement are key! Moreover, the commercial development of an innovation needs to happen in close collaboration with technical team members, be it scientists or engineers.

Experience, Personality & Language Skills
We are looking for candidates with a university degree and at least 3-5 years working experience in commercial functions - be it in business development, strategic marketing or sales within an industrial firm or in management consulting. Moreover, candidates should have an interest and understanding for technical products. Overall he or she needs to show very practical and pragmatic skills and not be theoretical. In terms of personality traits, the following ones are key for all people joining EP's innovation unit: be intrinsically motivated, youthful, a team player, flexible & versatile, entrepreneurial, inquisitive, creative and out-of-the box thinking, enduring and able to deal with failure and continue. English will be the working language and skills in French and German beneficial.

Location & Timing
The innovation unit is located in Switzerland and starts to operate as of Q1/2008. We are looking for one business development manager, to start as early as Q1/2008 and other ones to join later in 2008.
